MED-DESIRE project participated in the 3rd edition of EcOrient 2014 that took place from the 4th to 6th of June, 2014 at Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center (BIEL) in Beirut, Lebanon.
EcOrient was first launched in 2012 while governments and the private sector were starting to invest their economic resources in sustainable green projects to meet the fast-growing market demand in the Middle East region and Lebanon. It is a trade exhibition and conference where international and national companies display their newest environmental and sustainable technologies of water, wastewater and clean energy.
Among the many international, European and local energy - and in particular solar - companies, the MED-DESIRE project had a booth that further enhanced its visibility. Throughout the 4 days of the event, the LCEC team introduced the project to the general public, local solar companies, national policy makers and stakeholder as well as representatives of international and European projects and initiatives.
The LCEC team also participated in the different activities and shared the project’s successful partnership on all the levels. The MED-DESIRE project was pointed out in the session titled "Strenghts. Weaknesses. Opportunities. Threats: Overview of the Solar Photovoltaic Market in Lebanon" moderated by Mr. Pierre El Khoury, LCEC director and project Steering Committee Representative. Another presentation within the "Green in Education” session was given by Mr. Elie Abou Jaoudeh, LCEC Energy Engineer, during which he presented the several projects and initiatives, including MED-DESIRE, targeting training and vocational courses for solar energy in the Lebanese technical schools and institutes.
The LCEC team handled the MED-DESIRE project booth on the 4 days from 4:00pm to 10:00pm. MED-DESIRE folders were available at the booth, containing MED-DESIRE brochures in English and Arabic and were handed out to all the visitors who expressed full interest in the project, its activities and future outputs.
