The cooperative activities among five countries of the north and south shores of the Mediterranean sea (Italy, Spain, Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia, partners of the European project MED DESIRE) concerning policies for the development of energy efficiency and solar technologies, will be illustrated in one of the Energy Efficiency Lectures held by ENEA in Verona, October 10, at SMART ENERGY EXPO, one of the most important exhibition in Italy focused to solutions, products and technologies for energy efficiency.
The MED DESIRE project partners are now engaged in developing guidelines for the definition of "solar ordinances" and incentive mechanisms, updating schemes for the certification/qualification of components and systems for energy efficiency and renewable energy, setting up programs for vocational education and training (VET) of the involved operators. All activities are "tailor-made" and designed to meet needs and requests of the beneficiary countries, by taking into account their specificities and transferring European experiences, standards and best practices.
The participation of MED DESIRE in SMART ENERGY EXPO - a space devoted to the project has been set up at the ENEA exhibition area - offers important opportunities for the promotion of project activities and the occasion to contact and exchange of knowledge with national and international networks of high competence, consisting of companies, financial operators, scientific and institutional world.
SMART ENERGY EXPO will give also the chance to participate in “Verona Efficiency Summit” (October 8th), where national and international policy makers will discuss energy efficiency issues and, on October 9th, to attend the “States-General of Energy Efficiency” conference, when the results of the Italian public consultation concerning proposals and solutions for a more efficient use of energy resources will be released and discussed.
