The Andalusian Energy Agency, entity assigned to the Regional Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment of the Andalusian Government, is organizing the International Conference “New Markets, New Challenges for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the Mediterranean Region”, next 13th November 2014 at the Hotel NH Collection Sevilla (Avenida Diego Martinez Barrio, 8, 41013 Seville, Spain). This Conference is part of the capitalization activities of the ENPI MED DESIRE project – MEDiterranean DEvelopment of Support schemes for solar Initiatives and Renewable Energies.
This Conference will count on the presence of international experts who will inform on the developments in the cooperation programmes of the European Union for 2020, as well as the latest legislative developments and innovative facilities on energy for the next period, in accordance with the guidelines set by the European Union on Energy and Climate Change. Participants will also learn the results of other projects developed by the European Union in the framework of the ENPI MED programme and the experiences of the countries of the Mediterranean Basin in energy efficiency and renewable energy, which will allow them to exchange points of view in these areas within the legal, regulatory, economic and organizational fields.
The International Conference is divided into two different sessions. In the first session, titled “Present and future cooperation between the north and south of the Mediterranean basin”, specialized speakers will analyze the main results achieved in the Mediterranean north-south cooperation as well as the strategies for the cooperation to be implemented in next period. Successful cooperation projects will also be presented in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The second session “Opportunities for renewable energy and energy efficiency in the Mediterranean” will be dedicated to the analysis of the current market for renewable energy and energy efficiency in Mediterranean territories, as well as to the future prospects in the short and medium term.
Besides the MED-DESIRE project, other projects will be presented, including DIDSOLIT-PB (Development and Implementation of Decentralized Solar Energy-Related Innovative Technologies for Public Buildings in the Mediterranean Basin Countries), whose overall objective is to promote and implement innovative technologies and transfer know‐how in the field of decentralized, small scale, solar energy systems that may be integrated in public buildings/premises of countries of the Mediterranean Basin; FOSTER in MED (Fostering Solar Technology in the Mediterranean area), whose aim is to build a common know-how in the field of photovoltaic solar technologies in the Mediterranean region; and the MEDSOLAR project (Mashreq Energy Development - Solar -MED-Solar), whose main objective is the promotion and the implementation of innovative technologies, as well as know-how transfer in the field of solar energy, particularly PV systems.
