The “trainer” of installers of photovoltaic (PV) system is expected to be a person of recognized professional experience, with expertise in both photovoltaic energy and adult education.
A “certified trainer” ensures quality and competences in performing specific education activities, being beneficial both for students and educational providers.
But how to become a “certified trainer” of PV system installers? Within MED-DESIRE capacity building programme, specific actions have been planned to show and transfer the complete procedure to Mediterranean partner - Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia - by realizing a pilot qualification course in each country.
MED-DESIRE training courses, implemented by the Italian project partner ENEA, are structured in 5 days of theoretical and practical lessons - lectures, tutorials and practical tests - plus 2 days for the final exam. The entire process is supervised by an internationally accredited third party, a legal entity which issues a certificate to those who pass the exam: it officially recognizes knowledge, skills and competence to train competently and confidently new and existing PV installers.
The first qualification course of trainers of PV system installers has been held in April 2015 in Egypt by ENEA, in cooperation with the New & Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), the centre for professional education “Istituto Don Bosco” in Alessandria and the certification body APAVE.
The next courses will be held in June in Lebanon and, next autumn, in Tunisia.
