On May 26, in Cairo (Egypt) NREA, in co-operation with Egyptian Environment Affairs Agency, EEAA, and Soaring Birds Project, organized a workshop within the framework of Feed-in Tariff, FiT, Program in Egypt.The workshop was addressed to the shortlisted developers allowed to establish and operate wind farms with total capacity near to 2000 MW at Gulf of Suez, close to Red Sea area in Egypt.
The Rift Valley/Red Sea flyway is the second most important flyway for migratory soaring birds (raptors, storks, pelicans and some ibis) in the world, with over 1.5 million birds of 37 species, including 5 globally threatened species, using this corridor between their breeding grounds in Europe and West Asia and wintering areas in Africa each year.
MED-Desire project shared this event through a booth. Folders including flyers and publications of the project were distributed to the attendees. Almost more than 40 person attended this workshop and NREA team informed them about MED-Desire project, its activities and targets.
