Within the framework of MED-Desire project that aims to spread distributed solar energy technologies and energy efficiency applications across the Mediterranean area and achieving an effective cross-border, NREA organized public awareness raising campaign for school students to acquaint them with advantages of renewables and energy efficiency. The event was held on the 26th of April in Al-Azhar Conference Centre.
More than ninety students participated in such event. It's worth mentioning, Green Valley School produced some videos related to sustainable energy and energy conservation. The videos displayed, in a simple way, different kinds of renewable energy whether solar, wind and biomass. They also showed the numerous advantages of green energy and how it has sustainability that will never run out compared to other depleted sources like coal, gas, oil.
Students have been learnt how renewable energy is a clean source that will never affect our climate and won't lead to toxic air pollution. Moreover, simple information and instructions about saving energy in our daily life have been conveyed to them. Some contests were organized between the schools basing on the displayed videos as there were given questions related to what they saw and intertwined with what they study at their school.
Also, students were involved in some manual activities that enabled them to apply what they have heard and watched; i.e. assemble a house and power it using PV modules, manufacturing simple wind turbines, manufacturing simple air conditioning unit, ...
It was a day full of useful information that raised the awareness of young generation of the great benefits of our sustainable green resources.
