In July 28, 2015 NREA, in co-operation with MED-DESIRE project, held a workshop titled “The Quality Supply Chain Of Solar Photovoltaic” at Sonesta Hotel, Cairo - Egypt.
MED-DESIRE project partners have performed a great job, analyzing the situation of the PV standards in Egypt, and from this standards to be adopted have been recommended. The aim from the standards is to support the development of a qualified PV market in Egypt by leading along with NREA the implementation of the qualification scheme.
Two standards suggested in MED-DESIRE already adopted and there is a third one in the preparation phase. In this regard, NREA’S PV laboratory will be the first one in the country that will be able to qualify PV products. NREA and Egyptian Organization for Standards, EOS, will work together to set up and applying the relevant procedures for applying pv standards, sure that this will help to the development of the sustainable distributed solar energy market and build trust between PV industry and the end user.
During the workshop, national stakeholders, policy makers, decision makers and PV companies discussed the general issues related to consumer protections, market quality and solar standards. Also, they discussed the success stories presented and recommended actions to foster PV market in Egypt.
